10 tips to improve your self-esteem

To be frank self-esteem is your opinion of yourself and your abilities, you can high, low, or somewhere in the middle. While we all have doubts, low-self-esteem can leave you feeling insecure and unmotivated. So, if you’re wondering how to improve your self-esteem here are some tips:

  • Be nice to yourself: tell your bitchity cricket to shut up! Make an effort to be nice to yourself. Progress not perfection.

  • You do you: Stop comparing yourself to others, that’s a sure way to feel shitty.

  • Get movin: exercise is a great way to increase motivation, practice setting goals and build confidence. Breaking a sweat also cues the body to release endorphins, the feel good stuff.

  • No one’s perfect: Progress over perfection, baby steps are better than no action.

  • Remember you are human: Everyone makes mistakes. Mistakes help you learn and grow.

  • Focus on what you can change: It’s easy to focus on things out of your control, won’t get you anywhere. Instead, focus on things that you can control.

  • Do what makes you happy: If you spend time doing things you enjoy, you’re more likely to be more positive and upbeat.

  • Celebrate the small stuff: You got up. You had breakfast… Celebrate the small victories is a great way to build confidence and self-esteem.

  • Be a friend: Being helpful and considerate to others, will certainly boost their mood and yours.

  • Surround yourself with a supportive tribe: Find people who make you feel good about yourself and avoid those who tend to trigger your negative thinking.

I have used and still use most of these tips myself, at first you won’t feel much, but over time it becomes so much more, as you build yourself up, as within so without, things change. It’s not one days efforts, but many days of baby steps small actions that get us thru. More tips soon.

Love Yourself series, DeAnn post #2

In this series within my blog, I will share individual client stories, that they have allowed me to share with you, in hopes of encouraging you to love yourself more right now not when. These are real women, with real stories.

Beauty to Bombshell.jpg

Meet DeAnn, always a mom, even with Chiari, having had one brain surgery for that and the other 2 on her lower back and soon to have hip surgery. She has also been on a weight loss journey as well. She is an incredible woman on a hard road. The last few years have been kind of rough for her. She has been discovering who is she is again after some trauma, she is learning to set new boundaries for herself, and to spoil herself finally.

When we met up for her style session, she mentioned her divorce and the death of her beloved dad. We chatted about all the things she has overcome, about how she always wanted to do a shoot, just never had the courage or the right support till recently, and that’s why now was her time. I felt honored that she chose Boushie Babes to help her explore a few different sides of herself.

She pulled up in her Dad’s car and I knew to make this special we had to grab a few shots with her and the car, you know I just had to. So we started there and ended there, after hair and makeup. She even brought her new man’s shirt to get a few shots in too, so yes we did, I just love when clients bring different outfits to showcase their different sides.

She just wanted to see what others see when they say she is beautiful, to actually feel confident in her skin now, something I find most of us really need at least once in our lifetimes, if not more often.

Here is what DeAnn has to say about her session:

Love Yourself series, Larkin post #1

In this new series within my blog, I will share individual client stories, that they have allowed me to share with you, in hopes of encouraging you to love yourself more right now not when. These are real women, with real stories.

Beauty to Bombshell (26).jpg

Meet Larkin, she is an amazing woman on an amazing journey. She has been on a weight loss journey, after several surgeries. She has scars on her belly from them both, she has been working on learning to love her new body, scars and all. As with most of my clients, she was on a personal path to reclaiming her personal power back. These sessions are what I live for, why I do what I do, the transformation, the change I see in each client from start to finish.

We met first for her style session at the valley mall, safely of course. She started chatting about working as a teacher among other things such as a Disneyland employee too. Telling me about the other times she had been photographed, and she herself likes taking some amazing selfies, for example, the beauty side from above. We really hit it off and by the end of our shopping time we had a few outfits, ideas from what she had, we knew what direction her shoot was going to go.

I reached a few more times before her session just to clear things for hair and make-up, and then I did my research. She wanted a pin-up look, with some curls in her long locks. As the day got closer we both got more excited.

During her shoot, it was like hanging out with a friend doing hair and makeup, playing dress-up, and taking photos. We had so much fun. She was a natural, and that smile. We laughed, we talked, we got some amazing photos.

Here are just a few shots from her session. I will let her tell you how the rest of it went.

Honoring our Clients....

How do we honor our client’s wishes?

I get asked this or something along these lines regularly. So below I have made a shortlist of the things I do to ensure your wishes are honored and your privacy is deeply valued. For my type of work, trust is very important and essential to do boudoir. We treat you like one of our dearest friends and value each and every one of you.

IMG_8768.jpg

Simple ways we honor you:

  1. We will never sell your information, ever.

  2. We will never sell your images to anyone but you, ever.

  3. We only share what we have your expressed written consent to share, all images shared on my sites, social media all have been authorized with a signed model release.

  4. We only use the information you allow us to use for blogs, and content on social media, with model releases.

  5. If some random Joe wanted to see your images' without you, Hell no, I don’t care who they are, if you're not with them NO!

  6. We have an all-female staff to help create safety and trust for you.

  7. We work with your comfort zones to give you the best experience we can.

  8. We will never hit on you, that’s not professional. (yes, I had to say it)

  9. By law, if I notice anything that screams abuse, or trafficking in any way, I will report it, I have been trained to notice signs by state-funded programs.

So, Boushie Babes, please keep this in mind, when you chose to do a shoot with us, we do our very best to ensure safety and trust first and foremost. Doing a boudoir shoot is already nerve-racking enough without the added stress of wondering if you choose the right photographer.

With that being said, this is also why here at Boushie Babes we don’t have any new content or new faces to show sometimes, because our clients choose to keep their images private, and that is 100% okay with us!!! We love our clients either way. Best of luck in choosing the right photog for you.

Some amazing tips to help you prepare for Your dream shoot.

IMG_8709-Edit.jpg
  • Your photographer is the professional and should guide you through everything you need to know. It’s not your job to know how to pose or model.

  • It’s completely normal to be nervous! It will get easier as the shoot progresses.

  • Don’t worry if you’re carrying around a few extra pounds. Your shoot is about you. Not whether you have a few extra pounds or wrinkles.

  • If shooting on location, you may have to make a quick change in the car or public restrooms. Make it easy on yourself and have a big loose slip-on dress with no sleeves to through on and you can change your outfit right under your dress.

  • The nude camisole is great for quick changes of shirts in public places.

  • Be honest about what you want for hair and makeup. If you don’t like it let them know! Want more curls, volume, straighter- tell them! They will not be offended! That said, also be open to new ideas and know your makeup will probably feel much darker than you’re used to at first.

  • If it’s in your budget, splurge has the makeup artist stay all day to help with touch-ups and hair changes.

  • Try to relax and have fun! You are not being judged.

FAQ eyeliner style...

FAQ Section:

Should people with small eyes wear eyeliner?

Answer: Absolutely. People who have smaller eyes need not stay away from eyeliner – in fact, eyeliner can do a lot to make your eyes look bigger. If you’re wondering how to apply liquid eyeliner to make eyes look bigger, consult some of the techniques in this article.

Should an older woman wear mascara on bottom lashes?

Answer: Women of all ages should wear whatever type of makeup they feel comfortable and confident in. There are no hard and fast rules. That said, mascara on bottom lashes can unwittingly make some eyes look droopy.

What color eyeliner should an older woman wear?

Answer: Black eyeliner gives a bold look that many women desire. That said, it can be too intense for some. Shades of brown, olive, taupe, and nude are alternatives that may give a more subtle look.

What is the difference between eyeliner and eyeshadow?

Answer: Eyeliner is perfect for depositing strong pigment in a precise way. Because of this, it is most typically used on the upper or lower lash line to define the eye shape. Eyeshadow is typically blended over the entire eyelid to add depth and dimension there.

I will have more beauty tips soon.

Eyeliner Tricks To Make Your Eyes Look Bigger

Eyeliner is a workhorse of the makeup bag, and it can completely change your look when applied in different ways. Here are some tried and true techniques that can actually work to help make your eyes look bigger, brighter, and more open.

Cat-Eye

Try A cat-eye or a wing to make your eyes look more open. Both of these flourishes may help draw the gaze outwards and can make your eyes look bigger.

For flattering cat eyeliner, draw a line across your upper lash line, and flick it out all the way up to your crease area. The angle should follow the natural line of your lower lashes. Creating this unbroken sight line may make your eyes look bigger. Map out the line, and fill it in with liquid eyeliner or pencil eyeliner.

To do a wing look, line your upper lashes and continue the line slightly beyond your eyes. Draw a second line on your lower lash line to give the appearance of larger, wider-set eyes.

Apply Dark Eyeliner Just Below Your Lower Lashes

Rather than line your lower rim with black, bring your pencil down a bit and line the area right beneath your waterline instead. By drawing this lower line, you help create the illusion that your eyes are bigger than they actually are.

Keep Your Inner Corners Free From Dark Eyeliner

Heavy eyeliner all around your eyes can give a closed-in look and make your eyes look smaller. Rather than lining from top to bottom, skip the inner corners and focus only on the outer V. This draws the eye outward and makes your eyes look bigger.

Tight lining

Tight lining is the technique of lining your upper waterline – the line of skin between your eyelashes and the eye. This is sometimes called the invisible eyeliner technique because you don’t actually see the liner.

Tight lining can make the base of your eyelashes look thicker. It defines the natural shape of your eyes, gives you a lift, and makes your eyes look larger. To try this yourself, gently lift your lids and trace the area with pencil eyeliner.

Black eyeliner pencil is the classic choice for a bold or sultry look. A brown shade of eyeliner gives a more natural look

Try A Blue Or Brown Shade to Line Your Upper Lash Line

Using a colored eyeliner – especially after tight lining with black liner – may help your eyes appear bigger and brighter.

Try this: find a shade that coordinates with the natural color of your eyes, and use it on your upper lash line.

Try A Light Shimmer Eyeliner In Your Inner Corners

Apply a creamy, pale-colored eyeliner to the inner corner of your eyes, with or without shimmer. This acts as a highlighter and makes your eyes look more open.

Apply Nude Or White Eyeliner To Your Waterline

Applying white or nude eyeliner to your waterline (that area inside your lash line) may make you look more awake. This trick helps make your eyes look wider and brighter by making it look like you’ve extended the whites of your eyes.

To try it, gently pull down on your lower lashes and up on your upper lashes to expose your waterline. Trace that area with white eyeliner, or use a shade close to your skin tone for a more natural look.

Frame And Lift Your Brows

Grab a soft white eyeliner pencil and draw a line above your brow bone and below your eyebrow arch. This serves to highlight and lift your pair of brows, which can make your eyes look more open.

Clean Up Your Look

Mistakes happen. If you end up with a wobbly area or a smear, there’s no need to start over. Try dipping a cotton swab in makeup remover, and gently wipe the problem area off your skin. You can also dab a brush in a neutral shade of concealer and sharpen your lines that way.

Finishing Touches

People of all eye sizes can benefit from a crimp of a lash curler and a few coats of black mascara.

For the most eye-opening effect, curl your lashes with a lash curler and add mascara.

Types of liner sold buy Farmasi.

Types of liner sold buy Farmasi.

Know your types:

  • Liquid eyeliner is long-lasting and is useful for drawing thin, wispy lines for a winged eyeliner look. Because it can be slow to dry, liquid eyeliner does best on the eyelid and upper lash line, rather than the waterline.

  • Felt-tip eyeliner is a type of liquid eyeliner that uses a felt tip instead of a brush for application. It’s the best choice for applying a wing or cat-eye because it’s easy to control and allows you to draw thick or thin lines depending on how you hold it.

  • Gel eyeliner has a waxy consistency that does not smear or rub off easily. It works well on your waterline because it’s usually waterproof.

  • Pencil eyeliner is versatile. It’s a good choice to use on the waterline, for tight lining, and for a cat-eye technique.

  • Kohl pencil eyeliner has a creamy consistency that works well for a smokey eye.

  • Eyeshadow applied to the eyelid with an angle brush can serve as a more natural-looking alternative to heavy eyeliner.

General Guidelines for Creating Illusion

For this technique, eyeliner is used to create the appearance of bigger eyes. You aren’t actually altering the size of your eyes, of course. It’s all about creating an illusion. To do this, you’ll want to understand some general rules about creating depth and dimension with eye makeup.

  • White (or a light color) draws the eye in and calls attention to facial features.

  • Shimmer acts as a highlighter, catches the light, draws the eye in, and calls attention.

  • Dark colors can help minimize an area or give the illusion of a shadow.

  • Using multiple colors over a uniform base can help add depth and dimension.

I will cover more liner tips and tracks over the next several blogs stay tuned. I like keeping things short and sweet and easy to digest. Thank you.

7 tips to boost your confidence right now

  1. Visualize yourself as you want to be, not how you are. I know sounds easy, but takes daily practice, it gets easier as it becomes part of your routine.

  2. Affirm yourself- I know sounds cheesy, but it works. Say nice things to yourself, about yourself, use affirmations daily, this works but over time, if you come from a more toxic or trauma background this can take years but it’s worth it and so are you!!!

  3. Do one thing that scares you regularly work up to daily, start with monthly, then weekly, and keep working up to daily from there. Baby steps, and progress over perfection!!

  4. Question your inner Critic, always!!! She or he may have valid points, but that doesn’t always make them right. What are other possibilities?

  5. Set yourself up to win with small tasks that make an impact, like making your bed when you get up everyday, getting dressed, doing hair or makeup, give yourself credit for those small tasks, and those big tasks like going to work, paying off debt, baby steps here work up to the big stuff.

  6. Help someone else, whether it’s holding a door open, helping that old lady with her groceries, or giving that vet and his pup some food and a few bucks when they needed it. Pay for the car behind yours coffee, pay it forward, somehow some way do something for some else too. The act of giving allows both the giver and receiver to gain a bit of goodness.

  7. Last but not least, though probably the most important one of all : CARE FOR YOURSELF!! Just like on a plane if you don’t have your oxygen mask on you can’t really help others for too long, so make sure to take the time you need, the space you need, and give your body, mind and soul some really amazing care as well, whatever that looks like for you. Do you!!!
