Meet DeAnn, always a mom, even with Chiari, having had one brain surgery for that and the other 2 on her lower back and soon to have hip surgery. She has also been on a weight loss journey as well. She is an incredible woman on a hard road. The last few years have been kind of rough for her. She has been discovering who is she is again after some trauma, she is learning to set new boundaries for herself, and to spoil herself finally.
When we met up for her style session, she mentioned her divorce and the death of her beloved dad. We chatted about all the things she has overcome, about how she always wanted to do a shoot, just never had the courage or the right support till recently, and that’s why now was her time. I felt honored that she chose Boushie Babes to help her explore a few different sides of herself.
She pulled up in her Dad’s car and I knew to make this special we had to grab a few shots with her and the car, you know I just had to. So we started there and ended there, after hair and makeup. She even brought her new man’s shirt to get a few shots in too, so yes we did, I just love when clients bring different outfits to showcase their different sides.
She just wanted to see what others see when they say she is beautiful, to actually feel confident in her skin now, something I find most of us really need at least once in our lifetimes, if not more often.

In this new series within my blog, I will share individual client stories, that they have allowed me to share with you, in hopes of encouraging you to love yourself more right now not when. These are real women, with real stories.
Meet Larkin, she is an amazing woman on an amazing journey. She has been on a weight loss journey, after several surgeries. She has scars on her belly from them both, she has been working on learning to love her new body, scars and all. As with most of my clients, she was on a personal path to reclaiming her personal power back. These sessions are what I live for, why I do what I do, the transformation, the change I see in each client from start to finish.
We met first for her style session at the valley mall, safely of course. She started chatting about working as a teacher among other things such as a Disneyland employee too. Telling me about the other times she had been photographed, and she herself likes taking some amazing selfies, for example, the beauty side from above. We really hit it off and by the end of our shopping time we had a few outfits, ideas from what she had, we knew what direction her shoot was going to go.
I reached a few more times before her session just to clear things for hair and make-up, and then I did my research. She wanted a pin-up look, with some curls in her long locks. As the day got closer we both got more excited.
During her shoot, it was like hanging out with a friend doing hair and makeup, playing dress-up, and taking photos. We had so much fun. She was a natural, and that smile. We laughed, we talked, we got some amazing photos.
Here are just a few shots from her session. I will let her tell you how the rest of it went.
I get asked this or something along these lines regularly. So below I have made a shortlist of the things I do to ensure your wishes are honored and your privacy is deeply valued. For my type of work, trust is very important and essential to do boudoir. We treat you like one of our dearest friends and value each and every one of you.
Simple ways we honor you:
We will never sell your information, ever.
We will never sell your images to anyone but you, ever.
We only share what we have your expressed written consent to share, all images shared on my sites, social media all have been authorized with a signed model release.
We only use the information you allow us to use for blogs, and content on social media, with model releases.
If some random Joe wanted to see your images' without you, Hell no, I don’t care who they are, if you're not with them NO!
We have an all-female staff to help create safety and trust for you.
We work with your comfort zones to give you the best experience we can.
We will never hit on you, that’s not professional. (yes, I had to say it)
By law, if I notice anything that screams abuse, or trafficking in any way, I will report it, I have been trained to notice signs by state-funded programs.
So, Boushie Babes, please keep this in mind, when you chose to do a shoot with us, we do our very best to ensure safety and trust first and foremost. Doing a boudoir shoot is already nerve-racking enough without the added stress of wondering if you choose the right photographer.
With that being said, this is also why here at Boushie Babes we don’t have any new content or new faces to show sometimes, because our clients choose to keep their images private, and that is 100% okay with us!!! We love our clients either way. Best of luck in choosing the right photog for you.
Your photographer is the professional and should guide you through everything you need to know. It’s not your job to know how to pose or model.
It’s completely normal to be nervous! It will get easier as the shoot progresses.
Don’t worry if you’re carrying around a few extra pounds. Your shoot is about you. Not whether you have a few extra pounds or wrinkles.
If shooting on location, you may have to make a quick change in the car or public restrooms. Make it easy on yourself and have a big loose slip-on dress with no sleeves to through on and you can change your outfit right under your dress.
The nude camisole is great for quick changes of shirts in public places.
Be honest about what you want for hair and makeup. If you don’t like it let them know! Want more curls, volume, straighter- tell them! They will not be offended! That said, also be open to new ideas and know your makeup will probably feel much darker than you’re used to at first.
If it’s in your budget, splurge has the makeup artist stay all day to help with touch-ups and hair changes.
Try to relax and have fun! You are not being judged.

So, I have always loved the human form since I was a kid, female or male bodies. There is so much beauty in the human form I love to shoot it!! I do specialize in empowering woman through photography, and on a few occasions I have had the chance to empower a few men as well. Below I will show you my first Dudoir shoot to my most recent, I hope you see the passion and the growth, as I am always improving my art.
So my first Dudoir shoot was right after my studio fire and was outside on a chilly spring day this last year. He was a young man who had struggled with his identity and his image. His shoot was more conservative and shy, but his smile says it all. As always here at Boushie Babes Photography we work with our clients comfort levels.
This next shot was taken up the road or down the road, I directed him to play with his hair, just love the hair. We had fun, we laughed and talked, and he felt more himself after the shoot than he had in a long time. He felt comfortable in his skin for the first time in forever.
This next shot was from a couples shoot that I had when got my new studio set up after the fire. He was looking at her off in the background, I said think about how much you want her and this was the result….. I do my best to capture a few shots that show true emotion like below.
the next shot was the same pose, she was closer getting ready to move in for a few poses, and he was patiently waiting….He felt more confident and more masculine after his shoot.
These last few shots, I will say this, I was amazed when he said yes, and even more amazed when he wanted the illusion of full nude, and I was shocked when he said I could share a few with you all. His shoot was totally on the fly and unplanned, I was super stoked when I nailed a few shots I have been dreaming of……so I saved some of the best for last….hope you enjoy as much as I enjoyed taking these shots and empowering these gentle men. These shots are from models who said they Loved the behind the scenes shots and videos, so I asked if I could take some during their shoots, and both got even more excited. We had so much fun capturing these shots, we laughed, and posed it was great. The models both had fun, and loved their shoots. Stay tuned later for the after shots of some of these, they are hot.

I am here today writing about the do’s and don’ts for a boudoir shoot with me. This is to help your shoot go smoothly, These are things I have learned after years of photographing people. So let’s dive in:
Get a good nights sleep. No amount of retouching can get rid of the look of exhaustion in your eyes or on your face. This is the most important thing on this list, Get your sleep on. This helps so much during your shoot.
Moisturize! Skin that looks good feels good, so whether or not your choose to do a full nude or not, we want your skin looking its best!!!
Bring it all!!! We need options for shoots, so I say bring it all. While one outfit may look great, another may not be so flattering. So pack a suitcase and bring it all! We will help you once you get to the studio pick out the best outfits for your shoot. Don’t forget your accessories!!!
Get a Mani and a pedi. This simple yet over looked thing can make or break a shot, if your don’t love how your feet and hands look, your not going to get that photo. So please do your nails or have them done a few days before your shoot.
Fill out the questionnaires!!! This one is huge, it helps us know what music you like so we can have it playing in the background for you. Also tells us what you have in mind for your shoot. It helps hair and makeup know what look to do for you as well.
Show up!!! Be early!!! To have the best experience ever you just need to show up, and be ready to be wowed! Leave the rest to me and my wonderful all woman team!! I dislike lateness and those who just don’t show up. Time wasting when not done if fun, isn’t fun for all.
No new hair cuts. If you don’t love your cut, you won’t love your photos. So make sure all new do’s are at least 2 weeks before your shoot, to allow for time to fix any mistakes before your shoot.
NO fake tans. If you want to be tan please do so at least 2 weeks before your shoot to allow for more natural coloring to come out. Fake tans look kinda fake, and orange on camera. I also love natural looking skin, as we are trying to capture your best self, not an orange self.
No Botox or collagen injections a week before your shoot. Cosmetic surgery is not natural in appearance, to me. So please to these things at least 2 weeks before your shoot, so the effects look more natural to the camera.
No negative self- talk allowed once on the set!!! Period, negative self talk will not be tolerated in my studio! We want you to see your best self, not all the things you want to change, we aim to show you right now how perfect you are. We focus on loving th body your in and body acceptance.
Love yourself More!!!! You are worth it!!!
Aside from our helpful staff that can call or email you anytime with tips we also have a good number of outfits and accessories at the studio that you can borrow.

In addition to these helpful resources we also advise you to make a pinterest board with outfit ideas that you love! From there we can always guide you towards the best websites, which outfits are flattering, etc.
If you have lots of ideas and outfits and you’re having trouble narrowing them down then we always recommend you bring a suitcase full of stuff! ….what?!
Yes, I’m not joking. We recommend you bring lots of things when you arrive and we can help you narrow them down once you arrive for your shoot.
I have had ladies say I don’t have anything, and show up with tons of good stuff. It does all have to do with your comfort levels as well. I had one client who was rather shy, and didn’t want to much skin showing, we had this lovely robe that went with one of her outfits and we made magic happen, she loved the photos too. I had one client who wanted to use just a sheet one time too. Those photos are smoking hot. So when we say bring it all, we mean it!! We can work with whatever you have. I love it when clients bring a baggy shirt, or sweater, or even a pj ones!!! I want to capture the real you, so you can see right now just how beautiful you are.
Don’t forget your accessories as well, musical instruments, sports stuff, handcuffs, pearls, boots, high heels, and the list is endless. I have clients bring their favorite book, shoes, or what ever you love and want in your shoot we can make it happen within reason.
All outfits should be snug, but not tight, form fitting for the best results. Extra bra inserts help with some of the poses so bring those too, regardless of breast shape and size.
Men’s shirt This is a no fail go to outfit, every woman looks good in a man’s white button up shirt. This works with every body type regardless. With or without a bra, unbuttoned and rolled up sleeves are a timeless classic.
Sheer teddy this is a beautifully feminine lingerie option that most woman feel comfortable in. Again, sheer fabric is a must have for ladies who want to pose nude without feeling like they are totally exposed.
Printed scarf or shawl One that has a nice drape, or fringe as both offer a wide variety of shots. besides they are totally fun.
Hot heels Must haves!!! Every boudoir shoot needs a pair of hot heels. And the variety of shots that we can get is part of the fun. If your shorter and want your legs to appear longer go with a nude color with a nice high heel. Black heels are always a favorite as well.
Jewelry statement pieces A piece of jewelry that makes a statement, stands alone or stands out is always a lovely addition to a shoot.
Black lace panties!!! What woman doesn’t look sexy in black lace panties? Black is a universal flattering go to, and looks great on everyone.
White tank top or t-shirt A simple yet timeless classic that is universally flattering and sexy.
Thigh highs and garter belt There’s a reason why thigh high’s are classed as super sexy and hot. They flatter every pair of legs, and seen a sexy throughout time.
Nipple covers For those who choose to do nude, and those brave souls, these are a must have. Simple or tasseled, plain or flashy, the choice is yours.
Personal Item There’s nothing sexier than a woman in what she feels best in. We all have an outfit we feel amazing in, bring it. It’s a great way to personalize your shoot and get you more comfortable, not to mention more meaningful.

Hello, it’s Accalia, I figured I would tell you more about me, and why I choose to do boudoir photography. I LOVE the human body, I love the curves, the lines, and how each of us is so different yet the same. I am in love with the human form. If you ever catch me staring its because I am in awe of something I see, and as a photographer I have a tendency to envision you in my studio and me getting that million dollar shot. Not to mention showing you your star quality today, not later, today!!!
In the photo above is me, yes, me!! I never ask my clients to do things I have not done or not willing to do myself!! I feel everyone needs an empowerment shoot!!! It is such a confidence game changer for sure. I felt fat before my shoot, over weight, not sexy, and just plain fat and bloated. During my shoot I was awkward and not sure it would turn out, not even sure I would find any I liked let alone loved. When I was going through my photos I was actually amazed at how many I liked, and how much I wanted to see one or two on my wall!!!
Like the photo above which is now hanging in my bathroom!! I can tell you, I didn’t think I think I was worth it, I did and still do have self image issues. I know I am worth it now, after my shoot. I am so grateful I took the chance to do something I have always wanted to do, so glad I got out of my comfort zone. So grateful I took my power back, for me the shoot wasn’t about being sexy, it was about embracing my femininity, and taking my power back from the men who I let take it away in the past, it was one of the missing pieces to my personal healing journey. It helped and is still helping me reclaim my sexuality, and what that means for me, it is my reminder that I too am powerful!!! The photo below is another on my wall as well now.
I have always loved photography of any type, since I was 10, now at 38 almost 39, I have found my spot, Boudoir!!! I get to help others heal, find parts of themselves they didn’t know, and feel sexy and beautiful all at the same time!! Seeing my clients light up, and even cry at how beautiful and wonderful they look in their photos, makes me light up, and for the time ever I feel on track and I have found my calling.
