Whispers of Want: The Dance of Desire

Whispers of Want: The Dance of Desire

This week, Boushie Babes, we're turning up the heat—seriously, is it getting hot in here? 🔥 We’re diving headfirst into those sultry looks, those come hither bedroom eyes, the looks that could melt even the iciest of hearts. Oh yes, we're talking about desire.

You know what I’m talking about: those steamy, intense gazes that make a photo feel alive with passion. Have you ever looked at a picture and wondered how on earth the pros make those come hither glances seem so effortless, so uncoached? Well, honey, I can’t spill all the tea right here, but let me just say—I can get you there. That's right, I’ll be your personal guide, coaching and directing you to master that you know you want this look for your session. Trust me, boo, I’ve got you covered!

But first, let’s break it down a little. What exactly is desire, you ask? Here’s a quick and witty definition for you: Desire – "That overwhelming feeling that you need something—or someone—right this very moment, preferably draped in a little mystery and a whole lot of seduction." It’s that slow burn, that magnetic pull, the thing that makes us lean in just a little closer, both in life and in photography.

So how does that translate into your session? Let me tell you a secret: desire isn’t just one note—it’s a whole symphony. And just like music, it comes in different flavors and volumes. Sometimes, it’s that quiet, smoldering stare. Other times, it’s bold and unapologetic, like I dare you energy. It can be soft, intimate, or downright fiery. The key is finding your range, and that’s where my magic comes in.

When you step into my studio, we’re not just snapping photos. Oh no, we’re collaborating to create art. I’m here to help you explore the spectrum of desire, guiding you to find your unique expression of it. Because everyone’s version of passion is a little different—what’s sexy and desirable for one person might be entirely different for someone else, and that’s what makes it so fascinating.

And while we’re talking body language, here’s another fun fact: Did you know that desire often shows up in the smallest of movements? A slight tilt of the chin, the soft parting of lips, the way the eyes linger just a second too long... All of these little cues add up to create the full picture of longing and allure. It’s subtle, but when it’s done right, it’s pure magic in front of the camera.

Just take a peek at the images below—what do you see? Those subtle curves, that playful glance, or the intensity in their gaze? These are all moments we can recreate together. My specialty is finding your unique flavor of desire and turning it into something truly unforgettable. Whether it’s quiet and smoldering or bold and seductive, I’ll guide you through it all. And by the end of the session, you’ll be feeling like a whole new, irresistible version of yourself.

So, if you’re ready to channel your inner siren and dance with desire in front of the lens, don’t wait. Book your session now, and let’s create some steamy, magical, one-of-a-kind shots that will have you saying, “Is that really me?”

Because yes, babe. Yes, it is. 🔥

Cultivating Confidence: Unleashing Your Inner Strength

Cultivating Confidence: Unleashing Your Inner Strength

Last week, Boushie Babes, I dove into the world of Joy, so it feels only right to turn our attention to Confidence this week. Now, let's be real—who doesn't want to look and feel confident? We all do, right? But how often do we actually feel confident? If you're anything like me, there are days when you have to dig deep and, yes, fake it till you make it. Sound familiar? I can't be the only one riding that wave!

Here's the thing: confidence isn't just a feeling; it's an attitude. The dictionary defines confidence as "a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities." It's about knowing your worth, and even more importantly, it's about showing it to the world. But let's face it—confidence can be elusive. There are times when it feels like you're wearing a mask, projecting strength you don't quite believe in yet.

Take it from me: in most of the images you see where I look strong and confident, I'm usually not feeling that way. At least, not at first. It's only after I strike a few poses or express a particular emotion that I start to embody the confidence I'm portraying. That's the magic of photography—it allows you to step into a version of yourself that you might not fully believe in just yet.

Now, you might be wondering why I have you mimic my poses in the studio, why I ask you to mirror me. It’s not just for fun, though it can be! It’s all about something called mirror neurons. Here’s a bit of science for you: mirror neurons are a group of neurons that fire both when an individual performs an action and when they observe the same action performed by someone else. These neurons are key players in how we learn through imitation and are deeply connected to the empathy we feel when we see others' emotions.

So, when I ask you to copy my movements, I'm actually helping your brain trigger the same emotional response that I'm showing. This means when you mirror my confident stance, your brain starts to fire up those confidence neurons, and before you know it, you're not just looking confident—you are confident. Pretty cool, right?

There’s a real science behind what I do, which is why it works. So, when I tell you to mirror me, trust that it's more than just play-acting. It’s about aligning your body language with your inner strength, even if it takes a few tries to get there. Thanks to my training with Denise Birdsong and the Stripped Down: The Art of Emotion course, I've got a deep understanding of the body language that screams confidence, and I can coach you into that space with ease.

And that, my friends, is why I can help you project confidence in your photos—even if you don’t feel it right away. The magic happens in that moment when you realize you’ve got it, that you are owning your space, and that the confidence is no longer just a pose—it’s you. So, whether you're stepping into my studio or just tackling your day, remember: confidence is more than a look, it's an energy. And trust me, you’ve got it in spades.

Check out these flavors of confidence below:

A Heartfelt Mother-Daughter Session: Cherishing Our Bond

A Heartfelt Mother-Daughter Session: Cherishing Our Bond

Hello lovely people,

This past week, I experienced a deeply personal and emotional moment that I wanted to share with you all. My daughter, Anathea, and I finally found time to do our long-awaited mother-daughter photo session. We had been planning this for months, but our schedules just hadn't aligned. Between work, health issues, and life’s endless demands, it felt like the universe was conspiring against us. But last week, everything fell into place. Neither of us was sick or recovering from surgeries, so we seized the opportunity.

Before I dive into the details, I want to express my immense gratitude to my daughter for allowing me to share her story. Anathea hopes that by opening up about her journey, she might help someone else out there facing similar challenges.

As we sat down in the studio to catch up, it felt like time stood still. Life gets busy, and sometimes we take breaks from our deep conversations, but this was our moment to reconnect. We laughed, we cried, and we hugged—really hugged. We cherished our bond in both new and old ways. Anathea began to open up about her ongoing battle with her health, particularly her struggles with eating. It's been a long, painful journey for her.

Anathea was lactose intolerant as a teen, which then evolved into gluten intolerance. Now, it has progressed to the point where she can hardly keep water down most days. As a mother, watching your child struggle with such severe issues is heartbreaking. She had an eating disorder in her teens, which she bravely fought and overcame. She loves food, but her body doesn’t allow her to enjoy it anymore. She’s facing the possibility of more surgeries and might even need a feeding tube at just 25 years old.

These are not the conversations you ever imagined having with your child. Yet, there we were, discussing her health challenges while capturing moments that are now frozen in time. The photos from this session are powerful and raw. They remind me of the unbreakable bond between mothers and daughters—a bond for which I am eternally grateful. Looking at these images still brings tears to my eyes.

Our session was about more than just taking beautiful pictures; it was about capturing the essence of our relationship, the highs and lows, the shared tears and laughter, and the unwavering support we have for each other. Anathea’s journey is a testament to resilience. Despite her struggles, she continues to shine with a light that inspires everyone around her.

This summer is packed with family obligations, work, and sessions with wonderful clients. But amidst the chaos, I want to make sure to share more stories like mine and Anathea’s. Stories of strength, vulnerability, and love. Each session I photograph has its own unique story, and I want to highlight the beauty in each of those stories.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this experience, it’s the importance of cherishing every moment. Life can be unpredictable, and sometimes it throws curveballs that seem insurmountable. But it’s in these moments of vulnerability that we find our true strength and the depth of our connections.

To anyone reading this who might be going through similar struggles, know that you are not alone. There is always hope, and there is always someone who cares. Anathea’s story is a reminder that even in the darkest times, there is light to be found. And sometimes, that light comes from the bonds we share with those we love.

Thank you for allowing me to share this deeply personal story. It’s a reminder of why I do what I do—capturing not just images, but the stories and emotions behind them.

Stay tuned for more stories, more laughter, and yes, even more tears. Because in sharing these moments, we find connection, understanding, and healing.

With love and gratitude,

Accalia Carter

Fuck Shame.....Still I rise....

shame

/SHām/

noun

  1. a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior.

    "she was hot with shame"

verb

  1. (of a person, action, or situation) make (someone) feel ashamed.

"I tried to shame him into giving some away"

Shame is also a feeling of I am bad, or something is wrong with me, instead of the behavior.

What do you feel when you look at this image?

As women, we are constantly told who and what we should or shouldn’t be. We are told to be ourselves, yet not like that.

I am here to say:

FUCK SHAME and FUCK THAT!!!

and those who make you feel shameful.

We are all human and we have needs, food, shelter, love, and connection.

The image above speaks to the shame a lot of us feel towards our sexuality and pleasure. It gives me the feels, like so many feels. The model and I were wrapping her session and she sat there and curled up and I was like wait….grabbed the toys, laid them out, and gave her a bit of coaching and direction.

This image brings up tons of stuff for me, about being told to not like toys, that it was wrong to feel pleasure or to explore yourself. So, much more as well like being a sexual woman was taught to be bad, to want sex was bad, to enjoy it was really bad, yet men love it yet shame us for the same pleasures.

Again, FUCK THAT!!!

I am a woman watch me take my power back, and say fuck that!!!

Ladies, I invite you to help yourself, do the shadow work, and reclaim your power!!!

FUCK SHAME!!!

Let’s make some amazing art along the way!!!!

Just start, now where you are, let go of what others have told you to be, and start asking yourself who you want to be, and then take action on that, no matter what you can do this. Only you can.

I have created a safe place to explore the different sides of who you are, a no-judgment zone. A place you can be who you are, or who you want to be for a day, the best thing is you are safe to explore yourself in ways we rarely if ever get to.

So let us rise again ladies and reclaim our sacred power as women as creators, and as lovers.

Still I Rise

BY MAYA ANGELOU

You may write me down in history

With your bitter, twisted lies,

You may trod me in the very dirt

But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?

Why are you beset with gloom?

’Cause I walk like I've got oil wells

Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,

With the certainty of tides,

Just like hopes springing high,

Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?

Bowed head and lowered eyes?

Shoulders falling down like teardrops,

Weakened by my soulful cries?

Does my haughtiness offend you?

Don't you take it awful hard

’Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines

Diggin’ in my own backyard.

You may shoot me with your words,

You may cut me with your eyes,

You may kill me with your hatefulness,

But still, like air, I’ll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?

Does it come as a surprise

That I dance like I've got diamonds

At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history’s shame

I rise

Up from a past that’s rooted in pain

I rise

I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,

Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.

Leaving behind nights of terror and fear

I rise

Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear

I rise

Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,

I am the dream and the hope of the slave.

I rise

I rise

I rise.

Hello I am Accalia, I own and run Sandpoint’s premier Boutique photography studio, Boushie Babes Photography.

I recently started a personal photography project, working on the art of emotion, and capturing that raw beautiful self. I want to do this for my clients above all else, though I know I can only coach you where I have been willing to meet myself. So I call this project Self Empowerment I will be showcasing over the next while is my self empowerment series where I coach myself to get a wide range of emotion, and show I can show you as well. I love showcasing those image’s that give you the feels, not just another pretty face.

Flirtation series…..

IMG_7490.jpg

In this shot I was playing with flirtation, having a genuine smile, and playing with the hair as one would if they where flirting with another.

IMG_7455.jpg

This was shot just before or just after the last one, while doing the flow posing for movements. I like the look as if I know something you need to know here, it’s playful and fun.

IMG_7473.jpg

I really love the smirk, and the glow of my eyes here, and my hair.

IMG_7483.jpg

So, in these image’s, I am barely wearing any makeup, I do have on mascara, and lipstick, and a photo finish primer, but that is it. Really.
