So, in this blog, it’s just me, full stop, unedited, I am going to talk about one of my passions I rarely talk about unless you come in and see the tanks, my toads, Fire Belly Toads to be correct.

Did you know they are pretty much extinct due to a fungal infection that wiped them out in the wild? They are, only a few known to be alive are those who are in captivity. Since it was an infection they can no longer sell them in pet stores.

I have had a pair for years, over 10, I honestly can’t remember, and one passed this last year. I was chatting with a lady at Petco who has several herself who lost one of hers as well not too long ago, and we always talk about how hers had never spawned.

Then one day it happened hers spawned!!!

So, I took the chance and got several pairs.

I love having 7, my lucky number in my big tank now, Miss Biggy as I call her is no longer alone, and has friends. This makes my heart happy.

Then they spawned again, and she said I can’t, so I got polywogs!!!

I learned a lot, and I lost a lot.

She had more and together we are slowly starting to save a species of toads…

Yeah, I am that bleeding heart…
